When Melissa Satino and her mom Rose Natale decided to open Suite Six in late 2019, they knew they had the opportunity to bring something new and exciting to the town and to the beauty industry in general. Coming from a long-standing line of beauty professionals, and with more than 25 years of industry related history running a high-end salon in downtown Toronto, this dynamic mother- daughter duo has the knowledge and experience that guided them towards success in their new venture. “When the pandemic hit in early 2020, we questioned our plan to move forward”, says Melissa. “All of the restrictions happened just as we were preparing to open our doors and we had no idea at the time what the long-term effects would be. We knew we had a plan that was solid, but there was so much uncertainty around the lockdowns etc., and we were not sure what was going to happen. After many months of thoughtful planning, and a few delays due to late deliveries of construction materials etc., we decided that our concept was strong enough to weather the storm, so we forged ahead”.
And forged ahead they did! The “Salon Suite” concept is common in the US, but largely unknown here in Canada. Melissa and Rose knew that they were on to something when potential suite tenants started to call before they had even opened. ‘We were overwhelmed with inquiries” says Melissa of the initial response to their new salon concept. “We had beauty professionals approaching us, and had filled all six of our suites immediately, which led to us adding an additional two suites in the back”. They now have a waiting list of clients who are eager to move into their beautiful Broadway location as soon as they have availability.
The SUITE SIX is the first boutique-style family owned and operated beauty supply and salon suite in Ontario. In addition to providing some of the best name brands in the industry to both beauty professionals and to the public, SUITE SIX is home to eight modern fully equipped single and double chair Salon Suite rentals. This forward-thinking concept offers industry professionals a turn-key solution for operating their very own salon without the investment, overhead and hassles of running and maintaining a brick-and-mortar business. Their Suites are designed for hairstylists, colourists, beauticians, and estheticians alike, and each individual salon suite is customized towards the business owners unique brand, all operating out of the SUITE SIX Storefront.
Each Suite offers a safe & secure private room with 24/7 access featuring a free-standing wash basin with reclining chair, storage cabinets, sink, display shelves, hydraulic salon chair(s), tool station, television, fan, mirror, and more to give suite owners everything they require to make their clients feel like a true VIP. Utilities and wi-fi are included, and Suites can be modified if required. With years of experience owning their own successful salon, Melissa and Rose also have the capability to provide valuable promotional and marketing assistance to help their tenants grow their own individual brands and manage their businesses. “We want to be a one stop shop” says Melissa. “Our suite tenants can run their business, purchase their products, and count on marketing and promotional expertise when needed. We provide everything they need to run their own salon, and we are continually working to provide value-added services that will help our partners to increase their clientele!”.
