Transforming a House Into a Home

Our home is our sanctuary; a place where we love, feel warm, safe and comfortable. It’s where we share meals, game nights and cozy up on the couch for family movie nights or just spend time together. That being said, there comes a time when our home needs love too and that’s exactly the conclusion the owners of this beautiful home came to as well.

To turn their home into one that worked for their family, the homeowners hired a general contractor Brian Ferguson Bribon Renovation. Having worked with Brian previously, they knew that they could trust him to not just transform their home efficiently, cleanly, and with a focus on quality, but that they would also find a support that they could lean on whenever they had questions or were looking for reassurance during the long renovation process.

The homeowners chose Floor Plus of Orangeville to supply all the flooring for the house except the bathrooms and Brian installed it, along with the baseboards. And while he remained prominent throughout the entire renovation, there remained some areas where Brian and the homeowners trusted the expertise of local businesses to complete. One of which was Aya Kitchens of Orangeville, which provided the homeowners with not just their beautiful kitchen cabinetry but also their laundry room cabinetry, bathroom vanities and even the primary closet.

The homeowners had an idea of what they were looking for in terms of style, colour, and design; and the team at Aya Kitchens of Orangeville truly supported them, using their expert know- ledge to turn those ideas into something beautiful. Not only did they provide the homeowners with quality cabinetry that met their needs of style and durability to sustain daily life in a busy family home, but they also worked within the needs of the family. When they fell in love with their gorgeous marble-esque countertops but realized they would need to purchase them long before they were ready to install (due to complications with the suppliers) Aya Kitchens purchased and stored the countertops for them until they were ready to be put in. They stand by their quality and attention to detail.

They also understood when to deliver what the homeowners requested, and when to softly encourage them to step outside their comfort zones. In the primary ensuite, the homeowners originally visualized a cooler colour tone, accenting their rich brown vanity with silver accent pieces, feeling that it was in tune with their personalities and the simplistic look that they envisioned for their home. However, Aya Kitchens encouraged the homeowners to choose a muted gold palette for the handles and accents – and they are so glad that they did, as it provides a subtle, warm touch to tie together the otherwise striking white and chrome room.

Another contributor who helped bring the homeowners’ bathrooms to life was Coverups Flooring of Arthur. They provided and installed the tiles and backsplashes in the bathrooms, as well as installing the carpeting that transitioned up the stairs into the loft sanctuary they created for their children to escape to. Coverups was also responsible for creating transitionless showers in not just the ensuite but the main bathroom as well, thus ensuring that all members of their family could use the shower with ease, regardless of their level of mobility.

One thing that the homeowners particularly appreciated about their experience with Coverups Flooring was their flexibility. When the homeowners realized they would regret it if they did not add herringbone tile to their ensuite, Coverups adapted, turning it into the room they’d always wanted.

When all is said and done, each of these parts came together to build a beautiful, practical home. However, no home is complete without one final touch – colour. In Colour Your Life Paint and Design of Orangeville, the homeowners found another local company willing to collaborate with them, taking the homeowners’ vision and elevating it into something outstanding when combined with their paint and colour expertise. From the initial paint job to the final touch-ups, once the cabinetry had been installed and everything in between, Colour Your Life provided the homeowners with quality work and superior support at every point of their journey.

While the homeowners now love their open concept cottage or lodge-esque home tucked away just outside Orangeville, they feel that the true value of their renovation was the way that it brought their family together. Not only did they survive the turbulent times that renovation brings, but they now have a home perfectly designed for their family to gather and enjoy all that is best in life.
