“Gardening is something you learn by experience, a constant process of experimentation, repeating the successes and learning from the failures.”
Established in 1948 on the Gerrie family farm, this beloved market is much more than its charming rustic storefront – it’s a vital part of the local community. The Gerrie name is renowned for providing farm-fresh, organically grown, GMO-free produce and high-quality meats.
The market sources its offerings from over 50 local vendors across southern Ontario, proudly promoting a “Farm to Table” philosophy. All their own produce is organically grown, with an emphasis on healthy soils, ensuring nutrient-dense foods. Customers can also find a wider selection of fresh fruits and produce, along with locally sourced meats including beef, pork, chicken and turkey.
In the winter months, Gerrie’s Farm Market features hardy produce such as beets, carrots, potatoes, and sweet potatoes, along with greenhouse-grown lettuce and tomatoes. The market also offers a variety of preserved goods – jams, jellies, pickles, pickled beets – as well as canned Niagara pears and peaches, summer sausage, pure maple syrup, and natural honey. Fresh baked breads and buns, farm-fresh eggs, and locally produced cheeses are always available to complement your shopping.
From December to April, Gerrie’s Farm Market actively sources and packages seeds and accepts orders for the upcoming planting season. The market’s garden centre stocks a wide array of plants and seeds, along with soils, fertilizers, hanging baskets, and decorative garden planters. Fruit plants such as strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are also available for planting. The catalog is available to view online.
Did you know that Gerrie’s also offers beautiful Ontario white cedar saunas and furniture? These products come in kits or can be custom-built by their staff, with options for wood-fired or electric saunas. Also check out their multiple styles of recycled plastic (HDPE) chairs and patio sets.

As spring and Easter approach, the market will feature hams, fresh turkeys, farm-fresh eggs, specialty baked goods, and hot cross buns. Their summer sausage, local cheeses, preserves, and pickles make excellent additions to charcuterie boards for any occasion.
Throughout the year, additional fresh produce and fruits are sourced through a nearby auction, ensuring local and quality products for customers. September brings “Sample it Saturday,” an exciting event where local vendors offer tastings of their products. Watch for the date on social media!
Fall is a time for harvest, with abundant apples and pumpkins, perfect for October festivities.
Speaking with Tim Gerrie was a pleasure. He shared how the family has been producing eggs, vegetables and flowers, and caring for the farm since his grand-father’s time. He takes pride in the market’s commitment to organic, local, farm-fresh produce and its role in supporting the community.
Tim emphasizes the many benefits of shopping locally:
- Reduced transportation and shipping lessen environmental impact.
- Supporting local farmers boosts the local economy.
- Fresher, more nutritious food improves health and wellbeing.

Gerrie’s Farm Market’s dedication to organic, local, farm-to-table food not only impresses but also promotes healthier lifestyles. Supporting local farmers and markets is especially important in today’s world, making it a positive choice for consumers and communities alike.
