Fashionable and Affordable Furniture and Décor

We all have in our mind’s eye a vision of our dream home. For some of us it’s a very clear picture, a visual delight with everything in its place; for others, it’s more of a series of thoughts and images collected over the years – a scrap book stored in our memories. No matter how we think about it, we all have a dream home, the décor and layout that we would commit to in a heartbeat if we had all the time and money in the world – which is always the rub, isn’t it?  As much as we like to daydream about what could be, most of us have gotten used to settling for what is, because that’s “just life”. It’s one of the first lessons that we learn – you can’t always get what you want.

When it comes to home décor, this is likely something that we have become even more used to. After all, if I ask you to visualize a décor store, you’re likely going to picture a little boutique, perhaps in a big city like Toronto or a little tourist village; it’s likely going to be a chic sort of place you wonder if you even belong in, and when it comes to visualizing that sticker price… well, that’s likely where you’re going to stop, since no one wants to have “sticker shock” in their own daydream. This, unfortunately, seems to be what “décor” has often come to mean in today’s society.

Now, here’s the real test: would you believe me if I said that HomeBasics has all of those unique, creative pieces that will give your home all of the personality but with none of the shocking prices?  The pieces you can fall in love with and take home?

If you said yes, you would believe me, then good – because it’s the truth.

Located on St Patrick Street in Fergus, HomeBasics is a family run business that aims to make your home décor dreams a little bit closer to reality. With a focus on affordability, it’s a welcoming space that strives to have something for everybody, touching all of the “typical” styles so that whether you’re looking for rustic or chic, homey or bold, you’ll find something to fall in love with. Whatever your goals are, HomeBasics is waiting, eager to help you find what you need to achieve them.

If you’re familiar with the area, you may have walked past the store front, even peaked in the windows, catching a glimpse of the cozy front room, filled with assorted, often seasonal, bric-a-brac that is always a delight to browse.

Having done this, you may have walked in, or you may have kept moving along, thinking either way that you have got a full grasp of what it is that HomeBasics has to offer. If this is you, then I am going to urge you to turn back around and head inside, because you have missed at least half of HomeBasics’ store. Tucked away in the back room, not visible from the front windows, is their spacious display room, in which a delightful blend of primarily accent pieces from Ashley furniture combined with the remainder of their décor options, creating a colourful display that is sure to inspire even the most uncertain decorator among us.

Their priority, when it comes to the furniture pieces provided by Ashley, are the smaller accent pieces, particularly those with versatility, enabling the owner to have something that will both look great, and provide a service in their home. After all, a big aspect of affordability is ensuring that you get the most “bang for your buck”. Just like HomeBasics, who want to make the most of their own floor space, you want to make the most of your own home’s space. This means that pieces such as decorative storage trunk, a funky or charming variety of throw pillows and blankets, or ottomans and side tables that can turn into storage or seating space are important to prioritize. Think of it as the furniture equivalent of “Thanks, it has pockets!”. Ladies, you know what I mean.

While neither of the owners, Nicole and Kim, claim to be designing experts, they have a passion for it that they wish to share, and are always eager to greet their customers, answer questions and help them find that piece that they are looking for. While they do not carry any of Ashley’s bigger pieces, they are both happy and able to order anything that is available on their site, hbhomecatalogue.com, current delivery times pending.

They are constantly on the hunt for new treasures and must have finds – so come down to their store, and see it all for yourself.
