Come Take a Load Off

COMFORT, QUALITY and GOOD SERVICE

The excitement and dread of buying a new piece of furniture, or any other big-ticket item, is one that we are all familiar with. It’s an exciting moment because there is always a thrill to bringing something new home, whether it be a product we saved up to buy for the first time or replacing something that’s grown shabby. The dread, however, comes from the shopping experience itself. Anyone over the age of 18 is familiar with the delicate balance that comes with retail. We want warm and friendly employees to be ready to answer our questions when we need them – especially if we’re going to be investing a lot of money – but who hasn’t run out of a store without buying because it felt like an over eager employee is watching your every move, giving you absolutely no space to breathe, let alone browse and consider your own thoughts?

Finding the right balance between these two ends of the spectrum is exactly where the open and friendly staff at Original Home Furniture – located in the “Woodlawn Bowl” plaza in Guelph – want to exist. Highly trained, and more than capable of making you feel as if you belong with the team in minutes (I was sharing “inside jokes” with them after only a handful of seconds in the store), their staff will be able to answer any question that you might have, as well as a few more that you didn’t realize you wanted to ask in the first place.

Do you happen to know that you want to get something new, but don’t know how you’ll fit it into your home, or how to arrange your space around it? Believe me, we can all relate. We might not be trained designers, but three members of Original Home Furniture are, and they will not only help you in store, but will come to your home free of charge to offer you a consultation. It’s all just part of the goal to ensure that they are able to provide the customer (IE you) with exactly what you are looking for.

Having been in operation for over 70 years, adapting with the times is something that Original Home Furniture has rather come to expect, and would really consider “old hat” (Or should I say “old couch”? No. Okay. Moving on…). They made their name, in the beginning, by selling high quality, primarily Canadian made furniture that could be customizable; working with the companies to obtain for their customers exactly what they’re looking for in colour, material and style.

While they still try to work with as many companies as possible that are still willing to keep the customizable options on hand, and of course are still focused on high quality and Canadian made, they know that going “customizable” comes with a certain amount of compromise, particularly when it comes to wait times. Sometimes we just don’t want to wait; sometimes we just want what we want, and we want it now – especially these days when it feels as if we are waiting for everything. This is why Original Home Furniture has also been working on increasing their position as a stock dealer as well. With their three and a half warehouses filled with stock, as well as their packed sales floor, they are in a prime position to find you something that you will both love, and be able to take home as soon as possible.

Now, you’re probably sitting there saying: but Jillian – I can’t drive a couch home in my sedan. That’s what Original Home Furniture’s personal delivery team is for. That combined with their maintenance department, all of whom are team members they have hired themselves and are confident in providing you with quality service. This allows them to make sure that you have an easy and smooth shopping experience, even after you’ve paid and left the store. Delivery is all taken care of, and if anything goes wrong at any time, just give them a call and they’ll handle it.

At the end of the day, comfort – at all levels, in your furniture and in your shopping – is the name of the game for Original Home Furniture. Whether you’re looking for a Canadian made table, dining set, bed set, mattress, or couches and recliners, they encourage you to come down to their showroom to test the products, and try them out. After all, you’ll spend a lot of time in this furniture, so you want it to be the right fit, and they want to help you find it.

Just an F.Y.I. … if you happen to notice “spilled” coffee or wine lying about when you visit the showroom, don’t freak out – it’s fake … not speaking from personal experience or anything!
