On Point with the 2022 Home Décor Trends

Arthur Cash and Carry is located at the corner of Smith and Fredrick St in the heart of the welcoming village of Arthur.  In business since 2015, they have become the “go to” destination for home décor items for locals, destination shoppers and for those just passing through. Customers are immediately drawn in by their inviting atmosphere, unique home décor and a broad selection of gift items. With their friendly, familiar service, the dedicated team of genuine people at Arthur Cash and Carry enjoy building relationships with customers by listening to their wants and needs to help find what fits. In-store style consultants are able to work one on one with customers to help them to create the home of their dreams.

From their humble beginnings in 2015, they have created a unique home decor retail space that is family friendly and displays one of kind merchandise for home, cottage and outdoor living spaces. They offer a wide variety of seasonal products, furniture, lighting and rugs as well as a top-notch selection of wall decor, pillows and other accent pieces. “Home Décor has the unique ability to impact the way you feel, and we want all of our customers to feel that sense of home when they walk through the door” says Fran Turnbull, owner of Arthur Cash and Carry.

The warm feeling of home is what they have infused into their new line, “Welcome Home by The Arthur Cash and Carry”. The line includes Artisan made products, and the Welcome Home collection will be sold exclusively at Arthur Cash and Carry.

“We have found since the beginning of the pandemic that people are spending more time and effort renovating and refreshing their homes, making it more comfortable and functional” says Fran “People are investing in outdoor furnishings and décor as the shift focuses to staying at home. They have also repurposed indoor spaces to accommodate new work situations and space requirements, or for those who simply want a refresh to update their surroundings after almost two years of lockdown. In addition to that, many folks have invested in, or are spending more time at recreational/ cottage properties. With the current work-from-home environment they suddenly have the ability and desire to spend more time there and want to update that space to make it more like home.  We have the products and the expertise to help to transform those spaces, no matter what style or budget suits your needs”.

Fran and her talented staff are constantly on the lookout for the most current home décor trends and collections to add to their product offering, and they were happy to share some of their thoughts regarding what we can expect to see as we move into 2022.

OUTDOOR LIVING SPACES

This trend is expected to continue as more and more people bring their indoor living style outdoors. Comfortable furniture, covered dining areas, fire pits, pizza ovens, outdoor rugs and lanterns, lighting, plants and other home décor items bring style and texture to outdoor spaces and make them as functional as an indoor room. When your backyard becomes your “staycation”, style and comfort are key. With all the options available today, creating the backyard oasis of your dreams is easier than ever.

MULTI-FUNCTIONAL SPACES

With more people working/studying at home, the need to redesign spaces/rooms to make their functionality more flexible can be accomplished with simple home décor solutions. A hangout space can be transformed into a playroom/classroom space that easily converts from remote learning to play time. Wasted space in a family or living room can be transformed into an office nook that is a quiet corner to work. Maximizing available space can be a game changer.

UPCYCLED and RECLAIMED

With sustainability in mind, many home décor designers and manufacturers are now incorporating more environmentally conscious and reclaimed materials into their product offerings. This comes with many benefits and advantages as the continuous supply chain disruptions that we have seen over the past two years are not a factor for these types of products. Not only are we reducing our carbon footprint by upcycling and using reclaimed materials, small businesses and local artisans are able to produce items that are one-of-a-kind and creative, and enable them to take advantage of the robust trend towards shopping “local”.

JAPANDI INSPIRED ITEMS

This stunning combination of Japanese and Scandinavian styles offers a minimalistic aesthetic with functional elegance warmed by textured neutrals and woven accents and the use of natural materials. The rich color palettes of the Japanese influence, warm the often cold-feeling Nordic style, and the contrasting colors give depth and interest.

CALM, COOL and COLLECTED

Calming colours in cool shades, especially those that are reflective of our natural environment can make your home feel welcoming. Colours like “October Mist” (Benjamin Moore colour of the year) can be used as a neutral, but the green/grey hue is clearly reflective of this trend and can add an interesting touch of colour to any space without being overwhelming.

In store interior designer Sarah Burke and the Arthur Cash and Carry team are able to offer complimentary design and décor consultations to their customers, and would love the opportunity to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with you on your next visit.

Whatever the season, the store is full of intriguing displays that reflect the passion of the team who created them. From the cool vibe of their summer displays to the full Christmas extravaganza that begins to spread through their store each September, their passion is to find show stopping pieces to bring into the store that create the “wow” factor and keep customers coming back again and again.
