What does a young successful entrepreneurial couple do, when not only do they run a business or two, but are also planning a wedding? Well, they design and build their very first home together, and do so from the ground up, of course!
It was the dream for this young couple, to create a home where they could begin their new life together in a simple, elegant manner, and also make for an inviting space for family and friends! It’s a bonus when you happen to be both the builder and the client, because you have a head start on making the most of the land you build on, both on the inside, and out. With that in mind, the newlyweds chose to build their home on several acres of stunning countryside.
The main floor starts out as a simple plan. You enter through the front door and are immediately treated to a beautiful view of the open-concept layout. From the gorgeous laminate flooring, displayed in a soft neutral colour that runs throughout the main floor, to the smooth light-grey finish for the paint, countertops, and decor. The homeowner has chosen a style that would make for any decorator’s dream. The stunning vaulted ceiling provides for beautiful lighting, and sets off the open-concept design perfectly.
The kitchen is truly the heart of this main floor. The elegant quartz countertop is lovely, with its glass fleck carrying hints of the brushed stainless finish of the kitchen fixtures. Complete with farmhouse sink, stainless appliances, and views throughout the main floor, this kitchen connects perfectly into the cozy living space and the large dining area.
Just off the kitchen, and connected to the 3-car garage, is a mudroom and laundry area. Perfect for handling muddy feet, muddy clothes, and just about anything else the homeowners would want to hide behind a clever sliding door. The kitchen layout also includes for stairs from the garage down to the basement area, complete with a full bathroom and shower, so this contractor/owner can keep all his work “dirt” to himself!
The windows throughout this home have been placed perfectly. The master bedroom with ensuite has a large walkout doorway which leads to a gorgeous deck, perfect for a quiet early morning coffee.
The main floor also has two additional bedrooms, and situated at the front of the house is an office which boasts another stunning view.
Spare bedroom #2 is situated next to the main floor bathroom, and has been decorated to seamlessly complement the entire main floor, looking fresh, clean, and comfortable.
The open staircase down to the basement leads you to an entertainer’s dream. The fully stocked bar lets guests stay hydrated while playing some pool, ping-pong, board games, or simply hanging out enjoying the hard work and beautiful detail that this dynamic couple have built into this lovely home.
