We’ve been very fortunate here at LivingSpaces & Lifestyles to have had “inside access” to some of the most beautiful homes in our region. And one thing that all these beautiful homes have in common is having used and enjoyed the services of many of the talented retailers and contractors in our area. Cover-Ups Carpet and Flooring, with locations in both Arthur and Fergus, is one such talented business, as this team has all your flooring, tiling, and paint solutions covered…. literally!
We had the pleasure of being invited to one of Cover-Ups recent projects, so we could see first-hand just how beautiful the product selection and installation services Cover-Ups has to offer, and understand how they can help bring your home design up to the next level.
An excerpt from their website provides some detail about the company itself:
“Cover-Ups Carpet & Flooring first opened their doors in 1992, where they were solely located in Arthur, Ontario. In 2010, Cover-Ups was taken over by Gord Blyth and Caroline Paquet, who have since opened an additional store in Fergus, Ontario. Cover-Ups offers a wide selection of carpet, vinyl, vinyl tiles, laminate, hardwood, cork, etc., and all installation materials. We carry an impressive selection of porcelain tiles, and are a Schluter approved dealer. We are also a PARA Paints dealer and stock the most popular colours of paint and primer. Since their opening over 20 years ago, Cover-Ups has taken pride in providing expert flooring advice and customer service to the best of their ability.”
We’ve actually featured several installations from this incredible company, as they’ve delivered many product options and unique design features for several projects, and fully guarantee both the products and their installations.
Today we’re looking at a “new build” project, one that the team from Cover-Ups had a wonderful time helping the homeowner’s create their dream space.
The beauty begins the moment you walk through the doors. Caroline Paquet, owner and designer, explains “Throughout the entire main floor the homeowner chose an ivory travertine tile, with straight edges brushed in a variation of sizes forming a cobblestone pattern”. The beauty of natural stone, with the colours and the way it’s been installed, gives texture and depth while providing a fluidity throughout the first floor. “We used this same tile in the master ensuite shower,” says Caroline, “where we installed this lovely product from floor to ceiling in the gorgeous open concept shower itself, and then continued it onto the master ensuite floor.” You can see from the photos that by installing the tile in this manner, it gives the bathroom a rich and elegant finish, creating grandeur while keeping it easy to maintain.
Coming back to the main floor, the team from Cover-Ups also helped with the kitchen backsplash. “For this portion of the design, we installed a 3” x 6” Cream subway tile and matching Chair Rails to frame out the feature wall above the stove,” explains Caroline. “This stunning feature, in a lantern-style design using a tile called Tortuga Linen Gloss, provides the look and feel that the homeowners, who have worked and travelled overseas, wanted to reflect and complement the beautiful objects and art pieces they have brought back over the years. By creating the framed feature, we designed an element of artwork within the existing subway tile backsplash.” In addition, this particular design feature draws from the colour of the flooring tile, tying in both and contributing to the overall impact of the space.
Next up, we take in the gorgeous basement bathroom. The tiled wall is part of the Pescara Series, in a 12” x 24″ size with a polished finish. The team installed a Lumina Series 2” x 2” Mosaic Nero Matte tile for the flooring, which again brings out the variations in colour found on the walls. Finally, the bathroom floor is a Lumina Series 12” x 24” Ash Matte tile, and ties this luxurious bathroom together beautifully.
As we finish our tour, we head to the spacious basement family room / entertaining area, and for a different bit of texture in this home, our homeowners chose a durable upscale carpet, “Tuftex Vibe” by Shaw, in their chosen shade “Timberline”. The decision to install carpeting was a great design choice for this area, adding warmth and softness to a space where the family will likely gather often to play games, watch TV, or simply snuggle up on the floor with a favourite blanket.
Our visit to this lovely home gave us just a glimpse into what Cover-Ups Carpet and Flooring has to offer. Providing dynamic design services, along with the installation of beautiful flooring, tiling, and paint solutions, all helping to create each customer’s desired look and feel, in that most important of all spaces, their own home.
