Downsizing in Style

Downsizing, purging, changing area codes, and building a home from the ground up, sounds a little daunting.  However, when you pair an incredible couple, with Kevin Vanleeuwen, Owner of Exact Construction Ltd. in Fergus, Ontario, what you get is a stunning, loft  bungalow, cleverly designed, and beautifully decorated.

The couple who paired with Kevin, to design this home, wanted a space, closer to their grandchildren, and smaller than their previous homes. The result is a beautiful home, with plenty of space for family and friends, but small enough to make it perfect for two!

A vaulted ceiling draws your eye straight up the staircase, to a “Juliet balcony”, where the master suite is situated to provide space and privacy for the homeowners. It is a stunning view as you walk through the front door, and the homeowner chose dramatic lighting to enhance the space from the main floor, and from the balcony.

As you pass through the front sitting room, you are treated to beautiful colours the homeowners chose for the walls throughout. The main floor kitchen, dining, and sitting room, are designed as open concept, and flow seamlessly.

The kitchen feels more like an extension of the sitting area and dining room and is styled to feel and look that way. While very functional, it is also spacious and decorated/accessorized to match the rest of the home … it’s another room to be enjoyed.

Oh, the master ensuite this cleverly designed space is fit for a Queen, and her King. The large room is complete with a King Size bed, chaise lounge, and gorgeous windows to create a light, breezy space, perfect for afternoon naps, reading a book, or simply getting a well-deserved sleep.

As you enter through the ensuite of the Master, you walk into a room, that every fashion maven would be green with envy for. There is a place for everything; clothing, jewellery, accessories, shoes, boots, and of course a front load washer and dryer, hidden behind storage units. Smart! And a dream closet to love!

The décor throughout this home was lovingly chosen by the homeowners, who as you can see have impeccable taste. Every room has something unique, and the master ensuite is no exception. Once again, the lighting stands out, which just happens to highlight the beautiful blue glass sinks. The deep oval shaped bathtub, angled to enjoy the view, is just as decadent, as the large shower room. Complete with various jets and rain shower settings, it’s the perfect, relaxing experience.

The main floor bathroom, is designed to not only be a “powder room”, but also is situated directly next to the “guest room’, and boasts a full shower/bath, providing easy access when family and friends come to stay. Once again, the homeowners have chosen pieces, and accessories to ensure, the elegant, cozy style matches the rest of their design choices.

If a picture tells a thousand words, then these tell a million. From the design of the home, to the stunning décor, this space welcomes you in, makes you feel like you are instantly somewhere special. Makes sense, as these homeowners have designed a space that matches them perfectly!
